Seamus Byrne Electrical Ltd regularly offers careers in the Industry both to fully qualified Electricians and to young apprentices who are keen to work in the Electrical Industry.  Electricians employed by Seamus Byrne Electrical Ltd are engaged in the installation of modern electrical and electronic systems in buildings and the repair & upgrade of external equipment and installations. They work in a wide range of buildings including offices, factories, retail outlets, schools, hospitals, power stations and construction sites in general.

To be an electrician with Seamus Byrne Electrical Ltd you must have a second level education to Leaving certificate level before completing an apprenticeship which involves both on the job and off the job training which is governed by the statutory apprenticeship rules set out by FAS.

Those considering a career as an electrician should have basic practical skills, together with a good standard of education to Leaving Cert level. Electricians must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and follow safety procedures very carefully. Electricians need strong problem solving skills and must be well organised, thorough and methodical. Anyone considering a career as an electrician will need good communication and interpersonal skills in order to work well with other electricians and professionals.

During your apprenticeship you will be paid the relevant apprentice rate. Generally, the rates will increase in a number of steps during the apprenticeship. All apprentices are paid a training allowance by FAS while attending off –the-job-training phases 2,4,and 6. On the job training will involve phases 1,3,5, and 7. Opportunities arise from time to time for promotion from electrician to supervisor level.

Many persons use an apprenticeship as a first step in advancing to such occupations as instructors, teachers, training advisors, managers and owners of businesses. Many former Seamus Byrne Electrical ltd apprentices have found rewarding careers in a variety of such like areas.

Where apprentices and fully qualified electricians have the necessary ability, initiative and basic qualifications, opportunities for advancement within the Co. are available from time to time. Many of the current senior management team at Seamus Byrne Electrical Ltd began their careers in the Electrical business as apprentices within the Co.
